The Gibson EB-3, in our opinion, is one of the coolest electric basses ever made. This model was most famously used by Jack Bruce of Cream. Despite sharing the same SG body shape as younger brother, the EB-0, the addition of the bridge pickup adds a whole world of tones which make it much more versatile in the context of a band. Gibson uses a four-way rotary switch for the pickup selector. In the first position, you get the neck pickup only which gives a deep low rumbling tone with almost no high end; hence the nickname, "Mudbucker". In the second position, you get the bridge pickup only, which is a much brighter tone reminiscent of a Jazz bass. Position 3 (the best position) is the neck and bridge pickups together which gives you a huge wall of sound. This is the iconic EB-3 tone. Position 4 is the neck pickup with a midrange notch. Not the best tone in our opinion but perhaps you can find a use for it and make it your own. This example is very clean, well preserved with no breaks. It is all original save for the bridge tone pot which was replaced long ago. It even has the pickup cover and bridge mute which are often lost. Overall an excellent example of a 60's classic.
