This is one of the best examples of a 17 inch Gibson L-5 that we've come across. All the woods used are highly figured including the birdseye maple back, flamed maple sides, and flamed maple neck. The spruce top has evenly spaced and defined grain lines. The neck is a comfortable rounded C profile, it is dead straight and sets up perfectly with low action. The tone is very versatile with an even balance across the frequencies and excellent note separation. It sounds great for both rhythm and chord melody style playing. It is all original save for the added strap button and a very high quality reproduction pickguard. A blonde L-5 is one of the most iconic archtops of the swing era. If you're looking for an excellent all around archtop, it's hard to go wrong with this one.
