QVG is excited to be a dealer for another great local, PA based brand- Strange Audio Electronics! All of the amps are hand wired and built by Josh Strange in Pheonixville, PA. The Susie is a tribute to the small 50's Fender amps with a modern twist. It has great clean tones but can also go to the opposite end of the spectrum with compressed fuzzy distortion. It features a fun three way "cleaner/meaner" switch that essentially provides presets that allow you to access more overdrive without having to crank the gain. It sounds great at all volumes and would make for a great amp in the studio or mic'd up at a gig. The simple two knob setup with gain and tone, is everything you need and nothing you don't. The tone knob has a much wider sweep than your typical vintage style amp tone controls giving you everything from crisp and clear to dark and warm tones. The cabinet design with the wraparound grill takes inspiration from the early Valco made Gretsch and Supro amps. Overall this is a very fun and versatile little amp with a very cool retro style.

The Susieʼs unique circuit is my tribute to the small American amps of the 50s and early 60s. Amps like tweed
Champs and Princetons, which delivered huge sounding fuzzy distortion with surprising volume, despite their
small size. What they didnʼt do all that well was smooth cleans and edge-of-breakup subtlety.
My focus in designing The Susie was to keep the attitude of that classic small-amp overdrive, but hone in the
warm, full cleans and touch-sensitive, compress-y breakup when the controls are rolled back.

• Cathode-biased 6V6GT output section, 5Y3 rectified.

• 12AX7 preamp, but swappable with any 12A*7 tube for cleaner tonality.  

• Single Gain control, with a wide-sweeping Tone control. 

• Hi and Lo inputs.

• Cleaner/Meaner switch for three gain voicing options: bold/full cleans, touch-sensitive dynamic overdrive, to saggy/compressed fuzzed out distortion. 

• Custom Soursound output transformer, with 8 and 16ohm speaker outputs.

• Jupiter bypass caps. 

• Hand wired on garolite turret board.
