The London based Burns company made the Vista Sonic model from 1962 to 1964. It retailed for 89£ when new and was marketed as a simplified version of the "Split Sonic" which cost only 11£ more. Due to the fact that it did not sell very well when it was first released, it is a fairly rare model today. This particular example is in a custom red color which makes it even more unusual. It shares many of the same features as the more common "Split Sonic" model with the main differences being the body shape and the controls. It originally it would have had a three way switch with Rhythm, Treble, and Wild Dog settings. At some point in its life it was replaced by the previous owner with a 4 way that adds a "killswitch" setting. The Burns Tri-Sonic pickups are great and very underrated in my opinion. The neck is a fairly slim profile with comfortable rolled edges. It's been completely gone over and set up by our neighbors at Philadelphia Fretworks. It comes in a slightly later Baldwin branded case. Overall a great deal on a very cool and rare early 60's guitar.
