The design of the electric guitar has remained more or less unchanged for the last 80 years barring minor variations in body shapes and pickups. Germany based, Verso, has designed something completely fresh. The most striking feature is the body which is essentially a flat sheet of steel that has been folded over to form a comfortable curve at the top for the arm and a "B" shape at the bottom which fits securely in the lap. The pickup is attached magnetically to the body and can be freely positioned for an infinite variety of tones. Played through a 60's Ampeg B-15, the sounds are surprisingly familiar and useable. Move the pickup towards the bridge and you get a punchy bright Jazz bass tone, slide it towards the middle you get a classic Precision sound, and placing it right against the neck you get the Gibson EB-3 "Mudbucker". Slanting the pickup allows you to change the balance across the strings. The construction is a neck through design with just a single screw holding the body to the neck. This is a truly inspiring instrument to play and is guaranteed to make you rethink what is possible on the bass. Comes with a high quality Mono gig bag.
