Fraulini Guitars, made by Todd Cambio in Madison Wisconsin, are some of our favorite modern instruments. Todd is a one man shop and his creations faithfully capture the essence of the guitars made by the Italian-American luthiers of the teens and 20s in New York/New Jersey. This guitar is a 26" long scale 12 string, similar to what was played by blues artists such as Lead Belly. They were made to be tuned down, giving it a deep rumbling tone not found in your typical 12 string.
This is a very fancy example that uses the best woods and hardware. The top is Adirondack spruce with straight and clearly defined grain lines. The back and sides are a beautiful set of highly figured flamed Koa. The tuners are made by Alessi with gold plating and ebony tuners; a set can go for over $1000. The neck is very comfortable with a slight V profile. Vintage Stella's like the ones these are modeled after typically have chunkier baseball bat neck. This is one is slimmer and more modern feeling in comparison. The nut width is 1 7/8" so it is perfect for players with smaller hands who have trouble handling the wide 2" nut on a typical 12 string.
The condition is excellent, like a new old stock guitar. No damage or repairs. Todd is not taking any more orders so this is a rare opportunity to own one of his most coveted models with the highest end appointments.
