The J-50 is one of Gibson's classic acoustic guitar models. It is essentially the natural finished version of the J-45. The "J" stands for Jumbo and the "50" represents the original $50 price tag when the model was introduced. Gibson charged slightly more for their natural finished models because they had to use higher quality woods than what was on sunburst models where flaws could be hidden in the dark section of the sunburst. This example is excellent sounding and has the play wear to prove it. There are a couple minor crack repairs. The neck has also been reset, not the cleanest work but fully functional and at the perfect angle. A new cut through bone saddle has been created to match the original bridge's curves. It was also recently refretted with slightly taller than original Evo fretwire so it plays like a modern guitar. Tuners have been replaced with modern reproductions that work better than the originals. If you're looking for vintage Gibson tone and vibe with modern playability, this would the guitar for you. Comes with a modern HSC.
