Fraulini Guitars, made by Todd Cambio in Madison Wisconsin, are some of our favorite modern instruments. Todd is a one man shop and his creations faithfully capture the essence of the guitars made by the Italian-American luthiers of the teens and 20s in New York/New Jersey. This is his 12 string Francesca model with a long 26.5" scale and it sounds huge as you might expect. This is the biggest body size in the lineup and it certainly helps bring out the low end you would want from the drop B tuning.
The feature that makes this guitar stand out is its wholly poplar construction- just like the originals! Poplar is a unfairly maligned wood mostly due to its use in construction and greenish appearance when unfinished, but it is actually very stable and strong. It works wonderfully as a tonewood and to my ears, is comparable to maple in its sonic qualities. Even though the guitar looks and sounds like a time capsule Stella from the 20's, Todd makes some thoughtful improvements that make it more useable for a modern player. This includes the adjustable truss rod, modern medium sized frets, and compensated drop in saddle.
Overall this is a great example of my favorite model from one of my favorite model luthiers! Great condition overall. No breaks or repairs, just an LR Baggs Element Active System pickup system that was professionally installed. Comes with the original hardshell case.
