The Guild Starfire Bass II is one of the most underrated vintage basses in our opinion. The single pickup models are fairly common but the two pickup models are much more rare and versatile. The mid 60's was when Guild hit their stride; excellent quality and made in Hoboken, NJ. The original Bisonic pickups provide a powerful clear tone in both positions with no hint of muddiness. See Thom Yorke play the same model on the most recent NPR Tiny Desk Concert with his band The Smile. There is a 3 way switch with individual volume and tone controls for each pickup and a master volume. We strung this one up with Labella Flats and it sounds great when played with your fingers or with a foam mute and pick. The hollowbody construction makes it lightweight gives it a tone reminiscent of an upright. This one has been well played and cared for. There is buckle wear on the back but no structural damage. The playability is perfect, it has a good neck angle and clearance over the pickups. It also comes in the original hardshell case with "Zooks" spray painted on the lid.
