This is a rare National Val Pro 85 Bass from the first year of production in 1962. It has a number of very unusual features that give it a unique tone and feel including a very short 25" scale length, piezo bridge pickup, and fiberglass body. The extra short scale length allows the frets to be much closer together making it a very comfortable bass for players with smaller hands.  A blend knob allows you to dial in the perfect balance between the warm neck pickup and the brighter bridge piezo pickup. The resulting tone has an airy quality similar to an upright. The hollow "Res-O-Glass" fiberglass body makes the bass a bit lighter overall and adds to the airy tone. The frets have hardly any wear and plays nicely up the neck. The res-o-glass body is in great shape with no break or cracks. This example is in excellent, all original condition and comes complete with the original hard shell case.
