This is a time capsule Martin 2-17 from 1930, the most well preserved example we've come across. Everything is original and has had a perfect neck reset and fretwork completed by Brothers Music in PA. There are no cracks anywhere, even the finish hardly has any play wear. The "2" represents the body size which was the smallest body for a full size Martin guitar before going down to the quarter size "5" body. The "17" means it has mahogany top, back, and sides with a gloss finish. This is a perfect travel guitar for someone that does not want to sacrifice any tone for size. The well maintained bar frets make the instrument incredibly stable and gives it a strong fundamental tone. Martins from this era, in this condition, are becoming increasingly rare. A beautiful and playable piece of Martin history.
