1956-gibson-es-225-hollowbody-electric-guitar
1956 Gibson ES-225 Hollowbody Electric Guitar

The ES-225 has the distinction of being Gibson's first thinline hollow body electric guitar and it is surprising how much they got right the first time. It was a fairly expensive instrument when new, it retailed for $179.50 when a J-45 was only $115. The 16" body shape is familiar and comfortable. The single P-90 in the middle position is very versatile and provides an acoustic like tone. You get a variety of tones just by changing your picking position. It has a comfortable rounded neck profile, similar to what you would find on '59 Gibsons. It is all original with the exception of the tuners and pickguard. This one has a great neck angle and plays perfectly with the original wrap around trapeze tailpiece. It comes complete with the original tan and pink lined hard shell case with a cool folksy design painted on the lid. Overall this is a great underrated 50's hollowbody Gibson for those who prefer a pure simple design.
