This C-1 acoustic archtop is a great way to get into a pre-war Martin at an affordable price. According to the 1933 price list, this model sold for $80. While that might not seem like a lot at first glance, a 00-28 sold for the same price and an OM-18 was $55! This was a substantial investment especially during the great depression.
These are hugely underrated and undervalued in my opinion. Many players have been converting them to flattops but they are great instruments in their own right and deserve to be appreciated. Archtops in general, have a reputation to be thin sounding but this is mostly due to what people have come to expect from flat top guitars. Playing an archtop instrument requires a totally different approach. This is a very nice sounding and playing example with strong projection and midrange clarity. It would work great for either playing rhythm or single note lead lines. Comes with a modern hard shell case.
